Whangarei Anglican strives to build a community for all people through an encounter with God that brings personal transformation, relational formation, social justice and cultural renewal. Based at the parish centre of Christ Church in the suburb of Regent, the parish seeks to share the love of God with our neighbours through both welcome and service.
The Anglican Church has had a presence in Whangarei from the time of the earliest missionaries, becoming an official parish of the Diocese of Auckland in 1860. Over this time, generations of people from throughout the city have served God in mission and ministry, a history we seek to continue.
Though centred upon Christ Church, Whangarei Anglican also includes the faith community of All Saints', Maungakaramea, Messy Church and other christian communities and ministries
Anglicans are Christians who look to the universal, seek to tie together the past and the future and live with diversity in unity. For more information, click here.
Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals
As an Anglican Community we worship and serve. As part of this we offer services such as baptism, marriage and funerals. Please, click here for more information.
Our community is led and governed by a mixture of ordained and lay leadership. We have one priest who serves as pastor and helps to lead us to fulfil our calling as part of the body of Christ. We also have a governing council and a number of sub-committees that work with our priest to ensure the good stewardship of the community, both spiritually and temporally.
